I am a current undergraduate student at IIT Bombay, one of the most prestigious engineering institutes in the world. My own academic journey is built on a deep foundation and genuine passion for mathematics, and my goal as a tutor is to share that clarity and confidence with you. As an undergraduate at IIT Bombay, my teaching philosophy is shaped by the same rigor and intellectual curiosity that defines my own studies. I believe that mathematics is not a set of rules to be memorized, but a language for describing the world and a powerful tool for solving complex problems.
My goal isn't just to help you find the right answer; it's to help you understand why it's the right answer. I focus on building a deep, intuitive grasp of fundamental concepts, empowering you to think like a mathematician and an engineer.
My Teaching Techniques and Methods
I move beyond rote learning and focus on active, conceptual understanding.
First-Principles Thinking: We break down complex topics (like calculus or trigonometry) into their simplest, most basic building blocks. If you understand the axiom or the proof, you'll never have to "memorize" the formula again—you'll be able to derive it.
Problem-Driven Learning: I often start with an interesting, real-world problem. Why do we need to learn about partial derivatives? How does linear algebra help a computer process an image? This "application-first" approach makes abstract concepts tangible and motivating.
Interactive Visualization: Math isn't just symbols on a page. We will use graphing tools, simulations, and even simple sketches to visualize functions, vectors, and operations. This builds a strong mental model that pure algebra often misses.
Socratic Dialogue: Instead of just giving you the solution, I'll ask guiding questions. "What do you think the next step is?" "Why did that approach not work?" "What does this answer mean?" This active problem-solving process builds critical thinking and confidence.
The Structure of a Typical Class
Our sessions are structured as a workshop, not a one-way lecture.
Conceptual Check-in (5-10 min): We'll quickly review the "big idea" from our last session and tackle any lingering "stuck" points from your practice problems.
The "Why" & The "How" (15-20 min): I'll introduce the new topic, focusing on its core intuition. We'll walk through the formal proof or derivation step-by-step, ensuring every link in the logical chain is clear.
Guided Workshop (25-30 min): This is the main part of the class. We will solve challenging problems together. I'll demonstrate the strategy, and then you'll take the lead on the next one as I provide real-time feedback.
Consolidation & Outlook (5 min): We'll summarize the key takeaways in simple terms and I'll frame how this new tool will be used in your upcoming topics or in a real-world engineering context.

The Engineer's Perspective: I don't just teach math as an abstract subject. I live and breathe its application every day. I can show you how the calculus you're learning is used to model fluid dynamics, or how the matrices you're studying are fundamental to machine learning algorithms.
Current Exam & Curriculum Relevancy: As a student who has recently and successfully navigated the competitive exam system (like the JEE) and is now managing university-level engineering courses, I know exactly what today's curriculum demands. I know the common pitfalls, the "high-yield" topics, and the type of thinking examiners want to see.
Relatability with Authority: I'm not a professor decades removed from the learning process. I understand the pressure and the exact points where students get confused because I've been there. I can bridge the gap between a standard textbook and the high-level intuition required to truly excel.
