About Monica
Youth are the future and I love my Spanish language, that is why I am here. For any youth to know more than one language is a true investment for life. Plus it requires the way their brain thinks when processing other information. I have been working with youth for the last 15 years, I understand them, and every stage of their development. Not only am I native Spanish speaker, but I began taking formal classes starting in 4th grade. I also had the opportunity to travel and live in Spain for 7 months, on top of traveling to Guatemala and Mexico. I have surrounded myself with a community with family across Latin America, therefore I integrate all the different ways to say different words, so they travel and are ahead of the game. I love learning, teaching dancing, art, and hiking. I have two dogs I love and I am currently working on my masters degree from Columbia.

Learning a new language or any subject requires a connection to it first. For Spanish, whether it’s playing charades, lotería, or listening to your favorite music but in Spanish, or reading the dialogue of your favorite show in Spanish, when you connect to it, you will retain it for life. The moment the wall comes down, students thrive, and sooner than later they end up not needing me. That is the goal, they not only connect to the subject, but I also teach them different tools to use to make learning the language easier.
