About Rin
I have played the piano for nearly 15 years, performing and competing in various venues. I began as a pre-collegiate scholarship student at the Colburn Conservatory before moving on to participate in competitions and performing with orchestras in professional engagements. Throughout this process I have been able to build an understanding of musicality and inspiration that is necessary for music, as well as the technical foundations essential for any pianist. Currently I am a scholarship student at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, studying under Professor Inna Faliks.
Brief Experience Overview:
- 5-time consecutive state finalist of the MTAC competitions (3-time state winner)
- finalist at San Jose International Piano Competition, CAPMT, Edith Knox
- winner of Pacific Music Society Competition, SAI PAC Scholarship Competition
- 2nd place in MTNA California Competition
-3-day debut in the Bay Area with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra
- commissioned performance for the Steinway Society

I will adjust the lesson plan towards the student's goals- whether that be playing for their family on the holidays, or creating a well-rounded repertoire that will present strong in evaluations. A typical session would include a review of fundamental drills (scales, arpeggios), playing through current pieces, and working through musical as well as technical details.
At any level, I believe that inspiration is crucial for fostering musicality, and implement this actively in my teaching, conversations, and approach. I look forward to enjoying with you all music, anything from holiday songs to Chopin ballades!
