About Oliver
UCL lecturer, PGCE qualified teacher (rated outstanding), and educational consultant for the Department for Education, Times Educational Supplement (TES) and Up Learn.
At UCL, I was on the Dean’s list for achieving one of the highest First Class degrees, and have been tutoring for several years across a range of subjects at GCSE and A-level, including mathematics, economics, Spanish, French, and music (including the drums and piano).
I have a passion for teaching and learning, and leverage the research from educational neuroscience and psychology to ensure my students are achieving success. I believe that every student deserves a personalised education that is directly tailored to their own academic needs. As a result, I create detailed diagnostic questions for each student so I can understand exactly what they know and what they don’t, so that I can create personalised plans to tackle misconceptions and help students succeed.
Finally, my tutoring approach is exam-focussed: despite their starting point, all of my tutees achieve extremely high grades (90% of my students have achieved A*s at GCSE and A-level). This comes as a result of me deconstructing exactly how the exam works, how to answer questions tailored to the mark scheme of each specific exam boards, and providing students with a host of memorisation techniques in order for them to excel in an exam.
