About Weiyi
I'm a graduate of The Brearley School in Manhattan and an incoming freshman at the University of Chicago. I scored a 5 on AP Calculus BC, 790 on SAT Math, and am currently taking linear algebra. Outside of academics, I'm a trained violinist from Manhattan School of Music Precollege, and I have performed at venues including Carnegie Hall. I love working with students because I'm passionate about helping students improve and foster interests in mathematics. I bring patience, structure, and firsthand experience to every session.

Hi, I'm Anna! I'm a Brearley School graduate and incoming University of Chicago freshman with an AP Calculus BC score of 5, SAT Math score of 790, and currently studying linear algebra.
I tutor math at every level from algebra through AP Calculus BC and SAT/ACT math prep. My students include middle schoolers building foundations, high schoolers preparing for AP exams, and anyone aiming to boost their standardized test scores.
My approach is concept-first. I don't believe in memorizing formulas without understanding why they work. In a typical session, I start by identifying exactly where a student is getting stuck, break the concept down to its core, and rebuild understanding step by step using real problems. I emphasize pattern recognition and problem-solving strategies rather than rote repetition, which is especially effective for test prep where speed and accuracy both matter.
What sets me apart is that I just went through all of this myself. AP exams, SAT prep, the pressure of a rigorous course load at a top NYC private school — I know what it feels like and I know what actually works versus what wastes time. I adapt every session to the individual student rather than following a generic curriculum, and I make sure students leave each lesson with clear takeaways they can apply immediately.
Lessons are available for middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, AP Calculus AB and BC, SAT math, ACT math, and introductory linear algebra.
