About Joachim
Hi! My name is Joachim, and I am a first-year medical student at the University of Newcastle with a passion for helping students succeed. I graduated from Damascus College with an ATAR of 96.85 while balancing leadership roles as School Captain and Rowing Captain, part-time work and rowing at an elite level. I strive to create a positive and supportive learning environment, tailoring lessons to each student's needs and helping them build confidence, improve their understanding and achieve their personal academic goals. I am a rural student with subtest scores of 880 in QR, 750 in DM and 683 in SJT in 2025. I understand the pressure students face in balancing the UCAT with their high school endeavors, and throughout the lessons I strive to equip students with the skills to simultaneously study the UCAT alongside school, and assist students in using their strengths to create a game plan for tackling the UCAT.

Every lesson begins with targeted discussion to identify the student's goals, strengths and areas they would like to improve. I then explain new concepts in a clear and simple way before working through examples together. Students are encouraged to explain their thinking and reasoning as they solve questions, helping me identify any misconceptions while building their confidence and problem-solving skills. Throughout the lessons we will create a UCAT action plan, so the students on the day strategy and preparation for each subtest is automatic. Each lesson finishes with a short, timed activity to reinforce learning and improve speed and accuracy, with the level of challenge increasing over time.
