Twenty-five years a math teacher for grades 5-12. I LOVE my job!

Edward Knauss might be the best math teacher I’ve ever known. I’ve been teaching next to him for several years in our open-floor plan high school. I teach the sciences, mostly chemistry, and Ed teaches all of the math years. He teaches each student individually, although he sometimes has two working on the same topic. I have used Ed’s teaching and learning expertise myself to better understand how today’s kids have been taught math and identify their gaps or misconceptions. Students cannot master chemistry or physics without good math skills, so I have become a better teacher by learning from Ed. With my own education and teaching college biochemistry prior to joining this unique high school, I have four decades of experience in teaching and learning; yet I learn something from Ed all the time! He is not only an expert in his subject matter, but he has an incredible personality with students where he succeeds in nurturing math competence in students who gave up on math years before.

I have had the pleasure of working with Ed for about five years. He is a phenomenal math teacher and colleague. He has the ability to work with any level math student; allowing them understand math through a practical lens. I would highly recommend Edward with all math needs! You’re in great hands.
