About Kate
I have recently returned to the UK after spending 6 years in Japan and Taiwan, where I was working as an interpreter, yoga retreat leader, and English teacher.
English is my native language, and I am also fluent in Japanese due to growing up there. I have a degree in Chinese Studies BA from Oxford university. I love all my languages and the cultures they represent, and hope to share this love with others.

I have a clear and gentle communication style to help students feel at ease. I personalise my lessons to accommodate the student's specific needs. I also like to make our lessons fun!
Lessons usually consist of discussing material which I send to you in advance - often articles discussing culture, society, history, or philosophy, etc. We can discuss broadly or go into specifics, as well as cover any questions around vocabulary and grammatical structures.
I prefer to focus on practical use of the language, rather than rote memorisation. I work with pronunciation and useful conversational phrases to enhance real life language skills.
