About Helena
Hi! I'm a current Year 2 student at UNSW and I grew up in Hong Kong. I studied at a traditional high school in Hong Kong for 3 years and then continued at a Singapore international school for 4 years, so I’ve experienced both local and international learning environments. I am fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.
I’ve always enjoyed helping younger students which is why I started tutoring.
I achieved a Grade 7 in IB Chinese Higher Level and would love to share my knowledge and study strategies with others.
My main goal is to help students improve their Chinese skills, build confidence, and enjoy the learning process rather than feel stressed about it.
I aim to create a friendly and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.

I aim to create a supportive, engaging and enjoyable learning environment where students can build confidence and improve their Chinese skills.
My lessons are tailored to each student's goals, whether that is homework support, exam preparation, improving reading and writing, developing speaking and listening skills, or learning Chinese from scratch. I primarily teach primary and secondary school students and adapt my teaching style to suit different ages and learning abilities.
As a current UNSW student and IB Diploma graduate who achieved a Grade 7 in Chinese Higher Level, I have a strong academic background in Chinese language studies. Lessons are typically 60 minutes long with combination of interactive activities, conversation practice, and students are welcome to bring their own school materials, exercises, or practice questions, which I am happy to work through together during lessons.
