About Darcey
I'm currently studying Speech and language therapy at UEA. I achieved an A* in English literature and language at GCSE as well as in English literature at A-level. during my A-levels i worked alongside English teachers to help mentor year 11 students and we saw many of their grades rise. At A-level I studied the Gothic, The Duchess of Malfi, Christina Rossetti, and The Worlds Wife's; so I have particular knowledge on these areas. However, also have good knowledge on a multitude of GCSE texts. Thanks to my degree, i also have extensive linguistics knowledge and so am able to help in this area.

When teaching I start by discovering what areas the student is most comfortable with and what areas they struggle with more. I then try to work alongside the curriculum and what the student has told me using preliminary discussions for each topic to engage thinking and discover what the student knows. I use my knowledge, research, and resources to help develop their thinking. I believe that quizzes and creating plans for practice questions is a great way to consolidate knowledge. in areas that the student is not so confident i lead a more structured session helping them develop the knowledge and confidence they need.
