About Clare
I have been a complete francophile since first travelling to France as a child, and have many wonderful life-long friends there. I did a BA Hons degree in French, and was a language assistant for a total of 3 years in Albi and in Bordeaux. I worked for a French metallurgical company for 10 years, and then decided to teach, in order to share my love of the language and its people! Until very recently I was Head of French in a very large comprehensive school for 15 years. I am now branching out into online tutoring, in order to be able to combine my love of teaching with my love of travel and life in France!

With 15 years' teaching experience as Head of French in fully comprehensive schools, I have both supported and stretched hundreds of students to maximise their potential, in both GCSE and A Level exams. I believe in a mixed approach, tailored to individual needs; most learners need a solid grammar base layer on which to build and expand their vocabulary and working structures. Some need a far more communicative approach. I aim to develop both your receptive (listening and reading) and productive skills (speaking and writing) in a variety of different and engaging ways and through different media. I am passionate about France and the French speaking world - its language and its culture, and actively keep updated on French news in order to share this with my learners. All lessons are online.

Clare is simply the best French teacher I know and she really knows the language like a native! She is so committed to French and constantly keeps up to date by daily listening to French radio, reading French newspapers and books.
