About Rebecca
Who am I? I am currently a third year medical student at the University of Witwatersrand. I have a passion for acquiring knowledge and for assisting others in learning and understanding new or challenging concepts. I absolutely love Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics and always strive to instill a love for (or at least an enjoyment of) these subjects in my students. What are my qualifications? During my school career, I was the top learner in my grade for six years and was the Dux Scholar and top learner of the FET Phase in my matric year. In Grade 12 I received awards for being the top learner in English, Afrikaans, Physical Sciences (physics and chemistry), Life sciences, Visual Arts and Life Orientation and was one of the top learners in Mathematics. Additionally, I took Advanced Programmed Mathematics (AP Maths) from grade 10-12 and thus have a thorough understanding of calculus, algebra and trigonometry (beyond the scope of the core mathematics curriculum). I have also successfully tutored two students in Mathematics and Physical Sciences for the entire duration 2021 and took on an additional student towards the end of the year. I thoroughly enjoyed every lesson with these students and was extremely proud of their hard work, perseverance and overall improvement during the course of the year. Their marks improved by a range of 10-25% in their end of year exams and I am confident that their marks will improve even more next year. Although I will likely continue with these students, I am currently looking for additional students to tutor in the upcoming year.

Assisting you in understanding the fundamentals or basics of a concept is my initial priority. Thereafter, I will assist you in building on those basics to understand more challenging concepts. I will provide you with personalised notes and we will frequently work through practice examples and past papers to assess your understanding of the topic at hand. I will also provide you with step by step guides to assist you in approaching different exam questions and, particularly, to apply your knowledge in higher order questions. My lessons are aimed at Grade 10-12 students who, despite being hard working, are unable to grasp challenging mathematics, physics or chemistry concepts. They are also aimed at students who appear to understand a topic in class but are unable to answer questions on that topic in a test situation. My lessons are taught in English as this is the language I am most proficient in.

She has had experience as a tutor in a private capacity for both maths and science and all of her students have experienced exponential increases in their final marks for those subjects. Her character is such that she puts in additional hours at the end of each tutor session without charging her clients because she is invested in her student's success over her own personal gain. I think that quality alone qualifies her in many respects as a competent and trustworthy educator.
Rebecca has been tutoring my daughter since the beginning of 2021 and we have seen more than a 15% improvement on her math average. Rebecca has been amazing. She is patient, reliable, and always willing to go that little bit extra. We have tried many tutors and we are so blessed to have found Rebecca. She works hard to connect with her students and wants them to succeed as much as they do. I highly recommend Rebecca!
