About Matias
I am a second-year Electrical Engineering student at Western University with a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. I have completed Calculus I & II (and part of III), Linear Algebra, Physics I & II, Chemical Energetics, and other math-intensive courses.
Beyond my passion for these subjects, I am especially passionate about teaching. I take a patient, structured approach, focusing on building deep understanding at a pace that works for each student. Over the years, I’ve developed a methodical teaching style that I’ve used to help peers and students improve their confidence and achieve their academic goals.

My approach to tutoring is highly personalized and focused on building true understanding rather than memorization. I begin by identifying exactly where a student is struggling, pinpointing the specific concepts or steps that are unclear or missing.
From there, I explain material in an intuitive, structured way, breaking problems down into simple, repeatable steps. I emphasize clarity at every level, even addressing very small details that are often overlooked but can cause confusion.
Once the foundation is clear, I guide students through a progression designed to build both skill and confidence:
First, I demonstrate problem-solving while explaining my thinking process.
Then, we work through problems together collaboratively.
Finally, the student solves problems independently to reinforce understanding and develop confidence.
This method creates a tailored “system” for each topic that students can reliably apply, helping them become more independent, accurate, and confident problem-solvers over time.
