About Thomas
My name is Tom.
I've been a software engineer for around 7 years and I'm now working as a senior full stack developer.
I have found great joy in guiding and tutoring more junior developers which has led me towards teaching.
I enjoy the process of planning lessons, communicating with students and helping to alleviate the stress and difficulty that junior engineers and new comers experience in the world of software.
Software is difficult. But my goal is to make it easier.

Teaching methodology.
I focus heavily on practical work using theory to support only when necessary. All my lessons involve a process of building small projects which represent true examples of real world problems that provide the student with some level of industry standard knowledge. I make sure that students do not get lost throughout the building and lesson process by asking the student to solidify and prove their understanding at every step of the way.
My goal is to ensure that students walk away from their lessons as better, more employable software engineers than when they started.
I run sessions at anywhere from 45mins up to 2 hours depending on the students requirements.
I have 7 years experience as a professional engineer with 2 years of mentoring junior developers.
I am capable and willing to teach all ages and groups up to the level of mid-tier engineers.
