About Travis
I treat my pupils with respect and dignity ALWAYS! I would view any pupil as more akin to a peer than a student, or any lower ranking scholar than myself. I am in this right beside you and with you...never at an elevated status. We are all fellow travelers and students of life. I try to learn as much from those I share knowledge with as I teach them in return. I tend to use a lot of humor and, as my dear departed grandmother would refer to clowning around, "cuttin' up" in my lessons. I find that keeping someone in a jovial mood fosters better impact and retention of information.

I keep the lessons electric with a highly energetic delivery. I also utilize many "old school"mnemonic devices and simplified techniques that are easily remembered and work! I am currently a graduate student, ultimately pursuing a PhD. I am a late bloomer myself, being as I am a 50-something-year-old "college kid." As such, I understand that not everyone is best taught by conventional methods; and that sometimes, one needs to look for more resourceful means to transmit the desired information in a manner it will best be received by the intended pupil. For example, if a pupil is really into music, write them several little jingles or short tunes that will permanently cement that knowledge firmly in the brain. Give me a try and I am confident I can find the approach you need. Thanks, all!
