About Edoardo
Physics is the future. Every discovery is a step forwards for humanity, every invention is timeless and opens uncountable new horizons which shape the world around us; it is a great driving force, shaped by enthusiastic pioneers seeking for answers to feed their voracious appetite for learning.
It is this appetite which has brought me to where I am now, with a high First at KCL, five summer internships under my belt, projects ranging from building gravitational sensors to detect gravitational waves coming from supernova explosions, to constructing award winning telescopes to research in metamaterials and invisibility cloaks. If it is unknown, then I find it an obligation to remove the prefix.
I am not only interested in science of course, it would be like saying that my thirst is limited to drinking orange juice, leaving every flavour of discovery out of the equation. I have won Journalism scholarships, (RFK European journalism award), developed websites dedicated to promoting Italy's art and culture; my fascination with languages have led me to teach myself french by watching TV, I am now trilingual in English, Italian and French, among other things I have a black belt in judo and am a keen sailor.
To all my students I would advise them to dream, because it is with dreams that what they perceive as grey turns into starlight.
Personally, I have found Physics spellbinding ever since I realised that today’s science was catching up with yesterday’s science fiction.
And the race never ends, every leap makes the progress of civilization, inventions and inventors, great ideas to reach ever further, humbly projected to improve the world. So many hardships overcome to get here, and the race will never end.
And you are the pioneers; every one of my students has had their flame of interest towards the big questions rekindled, not a desire to learn just for the purpose of passing an exam, but a desire to learn for the purpose of learning, understanding phenomena beyond the mere syllabus, ensuring a full understanding of the world around them.
When the student loves what he/she is learning, the grade is already three quarters attained. I firmly believe that if the student does not understand a lesson, there is something wrong with the lesson, or with the teacher, and it is up to the teacher to find the best way to make the student understand.
