About Zola
Playing guitar actually requires less raw talent and more simple, consistent repetition than most people realize. My path to this instrument began with a curiosity about how basic chords could evoke such deep emotion in a room.
After earning a Bachelor of Music at the University of Canterbury, I spent 6 years teaching others how to bridge the gap between theory and actual performance. I find that focusing on the mechanics of fingerpicking and barre chords provides a solid foundation for any style.
My approach remains grounded in the reality that music is meant to be enjoyed rather than stressed over. I maintain a relaxed environment because I know that tension is the enemy of good playing. This is why I value the process of slow, deliberate practice over rushing toward a final result.

A typical session feels like a casual jam where we focus on one specific technical challenge. 328 students have worked through my structured approach to bridge the gap between theory and playing. We prioritize a practice module with every lesson to keep momentum high for hobbyists and beginners. My degree from the University of Canterbury helps me explain complex music theory in ways that actually make sense.
You will find that reading tabs and mastering blues progressions becomes much easier with the right routine. We get results. I truly enjoy seeing the moment when a new strumming pattern finally clicks into place for a student.
