About Erica
I'm a California-credentialed substitute teacher with a Master's degree in Interdisciplinary Computer Science from Mills College and a Bachelor's in Political Science from UC Davis. I recently passed the CSET: Foundational-Level General Science exam and am excited to bring my lifelong passion for STEM education into tutoring. Early in my career, I developed and taught STEM curriculum at Techbridge Girls for middle school students and visually impaired high schoolers. My subsequent work in educational technology strengthened my ability to break down complex concepts and design learning experiences that engage learners.

I believe every student learns differently, so I start by meeting with you and your child to understand their specific needs, goals, and learning style. Together, we create a custom lesson plan designed to help them succeed in middle school science—whether that's life science, physical science, or earth and space science.
My Approach:
Each lesson combines clear explanations with hands-on examples and visual aids to make complex concepts click. I focus on building genuine understanding, not just memorization, by connecting science to real-world examples students care about. I want to be sure your child is comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. That's how we learn!
A Typical Lesson:
We start by reviewing previous concepts, then dive into new material using interactive demonstrations or visuals. I check for understanding throughout, adjust my pace as needed, and end with practice problems to reinforce learning.
