About Irem
Hi! I’m Irem, a multidisciplinary designer, yoga teacher, and writer with a background in architecture, UX/UI design, music, and art direction. My diverse career has given me a unique approach to teaching, combining creativity, communication, and a deep understanding of learning processes. I’ve traveled to over 10 countries, immersing myself in different cultures and using English as my primary language to connect with people worldwide. This extensive experience has sharpened my communication skills and provided me with a rich understanding of how to adapt language to various situations. I’ve also worked as a personal tutor, helping individuals improve their English skills through one-on-one sessions tailored to their goals and needs. My teaching style is warm, approachable, and practical, ensuring students gain the confidence to speak fluently and naturally. I focus on a communicative and practical approach to teaching English, aiming to build confidence and fluency in speaking. My lessons are highly interactive, with an emphasis on engaging students in conversations, role-playing, and real-life scenarios. I tailor vocabulary practice to match each student’s daily life, work, or personal interests, making learning more relevant and effective. Grammar is introduced naturally through use rather than focusing on theory, helping students understand and apply it intuitively. Pronunciation exercises are incorporated to ensure clear and neutral speech, and I use authentic materials such as videos, podcasts, and articles to expose students to English-speaking cultures and improve comprehension. I encourage students to speak freely, gently correcting errors in a way that promotes learning without discouragement.
Lessons typically last about 1 hour, providing enough time to focus on key objectives while maintaining engagement and energy. As a native Turkish speaker, I am well aware of the specific challenges Turkish learners face, such as differences in sentence structure, sounds, and expressions, and I use this understanding to address those areas effectively. My background includes extensive experience teaching English to Turkish speakers, combined with training in language learning techniques and cultural adaptation strategies.
These lessons are designed for beginner to intermediate learners, including teenagers, university students, and adults, who are looking to improve their conversational English, enhance pronunciation, or gain confidence in everyday communication.
