About Jonnie
Chess is a game of constant refinement. I admit that I spend as much time studying the board as I do teaching because the nuances are endless.
My 13 years of experience allow me to focus on blunder checking, middlegame planning, and opening principles. King safety, piece coordination, and attacking play are central themes in my instruction. Defensive technique, board vision, endgame technique, and game analysis also form the core of our work. Seeing a student finally grasp a complex tactical pattern remains the most enjoyable part of my day.

Focusing on the board is natural. We start with a diagnostic rating assessment to see where you stand. My background in statistics helps me identify your specific weak points quickly. I then apply the same 7.0 rated methodology that has helped 246 students improve.
We spend 7 sessions analyzing your games with precision. Clear instruction makes mastering the endgame quite enjoyable.
