About Michael
My teaching philosophy is based around the belief that I am here to help students - no matter their age, their level of education and their aspirations.
Each and every child/student should be given the right to attempt anything and everything they want out of life - and if I can help, then I will do so willingly.
I am a calm, patient and dedicated teacher - I do not shout at pupils in school, I work with them, negotiate, get to understand them and instil confidence in what they know at present and what they will become.
My lessons are fun, relaxed and challenging - we play games (domino's, nought & crosses, cards, memory games, word association, etc) and relate them as much as we can to the lesson; if not, it's just an opener!
Each student is an individual, they will help them move closer to their aspirations, I instil confidence, will inspire them to want more and I work very, very hard to be someone they believe can help them progress.

I am very patient, work AT the pace of each individual student, find out their likes and dislikes and areas they are strong in.
I constantly check progress, help find ways that help students understand, appreciate and apply.
My mantra is "what can you see"? when exam questions are put before them (get them to tell me - this gives them 'ownership' of their learning)
I have tutored young people (years 4 + 5) who struggled in mathematics and within a couple of months they were achieving and their confidence has grown.
I have taught PE, Sport, Sports Science and Injuries from GCSE to A' Level and degree level with very good results.
I work very hard for my tutees who have put their trust in me - if I assign 1-hour to the lesson but it takes 1.5-hours I charge for 1-hour; we have a particular objective to meet or a need to understand and I will stay longer for THEM to achieve!
