About Catherine
Catherine Kessler has taken private voice and piano lessons for over a decade, where she has studied a wide range of pieces, from Classical to modern.
She has had several years of experience teaching piano and voice to young students, helping to nurture their understanding of musical comprehension and theory. She led the St. Henry choir for two years, where she helped to guide the members to find confidence in their voices and help them strive toward their potential with a greater enjoyment of their natural talents.
Catherine has performed in a wide range of venues over the years, and she loves to discover new cultures and ideas through the universal language of music. She believes that the study and practice of music is an essential and beautiful part of understanding humanity, and she loves to share that with others.
Catherine is currently in college and hopes to further her musical career in the future through teaching and continued personal study.

My focus is on teaching my students the fundamentals of piano and music theory so that a strong basis can be developed and honed throughout a lifetime.
A typical lesson would begin with strengthening exercises, followed by theory work, and practice of a new or existing piece of music. I like to set the pace of each lesson by the student and his or her interest or abilities, focusing on areas that may need more improvement or would be beneficial to expand upon.
I was trained myself by a world famous opera singer and pianist and have brought many of her proven training and techniques into my own teaching style, such as appreciation of the classic pieces and theories, while bringing in some more modern styles as well.
While my experience is typically with younger children, these lessons are a great option for anyone from beginner to intermediary levels.
