About Samantha
I am a student in the Bachelor of Education program at uOttawa. My teachables are English and Mathematics, but I also have a passion for the Sciences and Social Studies. I live in Ottawa with my partner and our two cats. As a Student Teacher, I am completing a practicum placement in a grade three classroom where I support a variety of learners with different needs. In my opinion, the best learning happens when you really know your students and adapt your teaching to them--instead of forcing the students to adapt to you. I look forward to getting to know you and supporting you on your learning journey!

The training I have received at uOttawa gives me the experience and strategies needed to teach any student any subject!
I begin by assessing the strengths and needs of the student compared to the curriculum expectations. This lets me create a plan for what needs to be mastered to get the student to where they don't need me anymore. Next I ask, how does the student learn? Do we need to use hands-on manipulatives? Visualizations? Conceptual explanations? I take care to tailor the teaching to the student. Finally, consistent and varied sorts of assessments will tell me what works and what I need to modify--this doesn't mean tests, don't worry!
I believe every student can succeed with the right support and will strive to give that individualized attention.
