About Timothy
Tim is a talented and passionate multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and educator. Tim has ARCT designation from the RCM for both piano and cello in addition to his proficiency as a vocalist, and composer. His teaching career began in 1997 and his philosophy is to meet students where they are and go along on the musical journey with them at their pace, taking steps toward the goals they want to achieve.
At age 20 while studying cello at the Hochschule fur Musik in Detmold, Germany, Tim was diagnosed with HIV. This traumatic experience forced him to reevaluate his lifepath so he returned to Vancouver, where he began to focus on more contemporary musical styles. An advocate for HIV awareness, Tim composed a rock opera entitled 'Dreamer' to tell his story. He also enjoys a busy performing schedule with his original group, Southern Time Band. Tim has performed Dreamer and has been featured with Southern Time Band at major AIDS events across Canada and around the world.
Currently based in Toronto, Tim maintains a busy teaching schedule and enjoys inspiring students to be the best musicians that they can be. Tim is available to teach cello, piano, voice, and songwriting to students of all ages and skill levels. He also keeps a busy performance schedule and can be found performing around the city and beyond. Tim is looking forward to working with you to help you achieve all of your musical goals!

Firstly, we discuss what your goals for these lessons are. Then, once we have an end goal in mind, we structure the lessons/lesson material to suit the pursuit of the student's end goal. Every student is unique.
I teach between ages 5 and 95, from absolute beginner to university level.
The styles of music that I am an expert in are classical and psychedelic art rock.
