About Will
Hi! I’m a Mathematics student at the University of Leicester. I’m passionate about helping students understand and enjoy maths, breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps. I believe that with the right guidance, anyone can improve their confidence and achieve their potential in mathematics. I’ve completed a teaching module as part of my degree, and I’ve also gained experience tutoring peers and mentoring younger students. I focus on interactive, problem-solving-based lessons tailored to each student’s needs, ensuring understanding as well as exam readiness. Whether you’re preparing for GCSE or A-levels, my goal is to make lessons engaging, structured, and effective — so you can build confidence, improve your skills, and see real results.

I focus on making mathematics clear, engaging, and relevant to each student. I combine conceptual understanding with practical problem-solving, ensuring students not only know how to answer questions but understand why the methods work. I often use worked examples, interactive questioning, and step-by-step explanations, tailored to the student’s learning style. Where appropriate, I incorporate visual aids, diagrams, and real-world applications to make abstract concepts tangible. Techniques: Socratic questioning to encourage critical thinking. Incremental progression: start with fundamentals, build to complex problems. Active practice: students solve problems during the lesson with guided feedback. Homework & review: optional exercises to reinforce learning between sessions. Lesson Structure and Length: Typical lessons are 60 minutes, though I can offer 45–90 minute sessions depending on the student’s needs. Lessons usually include a mix of review, new material, and problem-solving practice, ending with a clear takeaway or technique to apply independently. Qualifications and Experience: Currently completing a Mathematics degree at the University of Leicester. Completed a teaching module as part of my degree. Experience with tutoring peers, providing one-to-one support during university coursework, and mentoring younger students in mathematics and problem-solving. Who the Lessons Are For: Level: GCSE, A-level mathematics. Age: Approximately 14–18 years, but flexible depending on student needs. Suitable for students seeking exam preparation, conceptual understanding, or confidence-building in maths.
