About Thomas
-I’m 19 years old
-I study Sports and Exercise Science which has the highest grade requirements at the sports department at Loughborough University. Loughborough has ranked number 1 in the world for sports related subjects consecutively for the last 10 years- therefore I’m located at the heart of sporting innovation and research and surrounded by the staff who have written the textbooks for physical education.
-I studied PE at GCSE achieving a grade 9
-I studied PE at A-level achieving an A*
-I have a background of Academy football
-I currently play semi-professional football
-I represent England for beach soccer
-I compete in Marathon running

I provide a highly personalised and evidence-informed tutoring approach designed to maximise academic performance and long-term understanding. My teaching methods are grounded by extensive research into effective revision strategies and cognitive learning techniques, allowing students to learn in the most efficient and scientifically supported way possible due to my own trial and error during my GCSE and A-level years.
At the beginning of tuition, students complete a detailed learning preferences questionnaire which enables me to identify their strengths, areas for development, and preferred learning styles. Using this information, I construct an individualised learning and development plan tailored specifically to their academic needs and goals.
Lessons are structured to be highly interactive, exam-focused, and reflective of real examination conditions. Regular testing and retrieval practice are incorporated throughout to strengthen memory retention, build confidence, and improve exam performance under pressure. I also provide advanced examination techniques and strategies aimed at helping students consistently achieve high-level outcomes.
Students benefit from access to a wide range of high-quality exam-style questions, including resources that are not typically accessible within school settings. Detailed progress reports are provided to monitor development, identify ongoing targets, and ensure continuous improvement.
Alongside academic rigour, I place strong emphasis on making lessons engaging, enjoyable, and varied, recognising that students often become fatigued by repetitive revision methods used in school environments. Where relevant, I integrate sporting applications and performance-based examples into learning, helping students connect theoretical knowledge to real-world contexts. This is particularly valuable for students considering progression to university-level study, and I am keen to support students in developing the independent learning skills required for higher education.
In addition, I offer support with homework, coursework, and independent practice tasks, as well as 24/7 guidance for questions or clarification outside of scheduled lessons
Overall my driving aim is for students to enjoy learning PE and develop curiosity into further understanding. These are the attributes required for top grades and for progression in whatever level they are at.
