About Sebastián
I am a recent UCLA graduate with a bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics, along with a minor in History. Over the course of my studies, I developed a passion for education through my roles as a Learning Assistant and Peer Learning Facilitator.
As a Learning Assistant, I supported undergraduate students in math courses by guiding them through discussion assignments. Later, as a Peer Learning Facilitator with UCLA's Academic Advancement Program, I created custom worksheets and led group study sessions for both statistics and molecular biology courses. My focus was on helping students engage deeply with the material, especially those from historically underrepresented backgrounds. I am proud to have received an award from the department for my contributions to their academic success.

My approach to tutoring focuses on active participation and critical thinking to help students truly understand the material. With experience as a Learning Assistant and Peer Learning Facilitator, I've learned that education isn’t about filling a "piggy bank" of facts—it's about building a deep understanding of concepts.
During our sessions, we’ll work through assignments—whether it's one you bring or one I create specifically for your needs. I'll guide you to the right answers by asking thoughtful questions that help you build confidence and problem-solving skills.
