About Andreas
Swimming was my first competitive sport. Constant ear infections meant I had to stop early. A few years later I started training in athletics and as a young adult I won medals in Decathlon and long jump at a national level (Cyprus). In my free time, I enjoy practising parkour, tending my garden or building things out of wood and stone.

I hold a level 2 qualification for both teaching and coaching swimming. I also have a degree in sports science. I taught swimming for many years before I became a coach in a competitive swimming club. As a coach, I led many swimmers (11-14 yo) to top rankings in the country. I always like to explain to my students why we do things the way we do them. My general approach is to break any tasks into smaller, simpler steps that feel manageable. When the first step is established and learnt well, we then move to the next step and so on. In this way, we can learn skills that might otherwise feel overwhelming or too difficult. I teach adults of all levels, from those who have water phobia to those who want to improve their performance. I also teach kids who are already swimming in a competitive club and want to improve any aspects of their swimming technique. The recommended length for lessons for adults is 1-2 hours depending on what the objectives are. For kids, I recommend 45 mins to a maximum of 90 mins depending on the age and lesson objectives.
