About Emily
Hi! I’m Emily I’m a biology graduate who really loves helping people understand science without all the stress. Biology can feel overwhelming fast, and I know how frustrating it is to look at your notes and feel like nothing is clicking. My goal is to make things feel clearer, calmer, and way more manageable. I studied Biology with a focus on Molecular and Cellular Biology and spent time doing lab and research work, but what I enjoyed most was explaining concepts to classmates and mentoring other students. I like breaking things down step by step, using simple explanations and examples, and making sure you actually get it before moving on. There’s zero judgment in my sessions — questions are always welcome, and we can go over something as many times as you need. I also work in a healthcare setting, which has made me really comfortable talking with people and supporting them through stressful situations. Whether you’re studying for an exam, trying to understand a tough topic, or just need someone to walk through your notes with you, I’m here to help you feel more confident in biology and science.

My tutoring approach in biology and science courses focuses on building strong conceptual understanding rather than memorization. I break down complex topics step by step, using clear explanations, visuals, and real biological examples to help students understand the “why” behind the material. Drawing from my background in molecular and cellular biology research, I emphasize connections between concepts and help students develop effective study strategies for science-heavy courses.
A typical lesson begins by identifying the student’s goals, followed by a focused review of key concepts using diagrams or examples. We then work through practice questions, data interpretation, or lab-related material together, with frequent check-ins to ensure understanding. I encourage students to explain ideas in their own words to reinforce learning and build confidence, ending each session with a brief summary and study guidance.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my combination of hands-on research experience and mentoring experience. I have worked extensively with molecular biology techniques and data analysis, allowing me to connect coursework to real scientific applications. My lessons are well suited for high school biology students and undergraduate students in introductory to upper-level biology, genetics, cell and molecular biology, microbiology, and lab-based courses, especially those seeking clarity, confidence, and long-term understanding.
