About Jiayun
As an Education undergraduate at University College London, I combine strong academic training with a warm, patient, and responsible teaching style. My studies in learning theory, child development, and instructional design allow me to structure lessons clearly while adapting to each student’s individual pace, goals, and learning preferences.
I am known for being approachable, supportive, and highly attentive to students’ progress. I believe a positive learning relationship is essential for building confidence, especially for beginners learning a new language. I take time to explain concepts carefully, encourage questions, and provide constructive feedback so that students feel safe, motivated, and steadily improving.
Alongside my academic training, I have classroom experience as a Teaching Assistant at an international school, supporting student engagement and communication in learning activities. This experience has strengthened my professionalism, classroom awareness, and ability to manage different learning needs effectively.

My tutoring approach is learner-centred, interactive, and highly structured. I believe language learning should be meaningful, engaging, and connected to real-life communication rather than rote memorisation. In my lessons, I combine communicative practice, guided speaking, vocabulary building, and basic character recognition, supported by visual materials, short dialogues, and situational role-play. I also adapt lessons based on each student’s learning pace, goals, and confidence level to ensure steady progress and motivation.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and is divided into three parts: warm-up revision and pronunciation practice, introduction of new language points through interactive activities, and applied speaking or listening tasks with feedback. For younger learners, I integrate games and storytelling to sustain engagement, while adult learners benefit from practical conversation scenarios and cultural insights.
I am currently an undergraduate student in Education at University College London, with hands-on teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant at Guangzhou Ulink International School, where I supported classroom management, workshop facilitation, and student engagement for approximately 50 students. I have also assisted in organising and delivering multiple educational workshops and events, developing strong communication and instructional skills.
My lessons are suitable for beginners and lower-intermediate learners, including children, teenagers, university students, and adult beginners who wish to build a solid foundation in Mandarin, improve pronunciation, and gain confidence in everyday communication.
