About Ella
My name is Ella and I am a student at the University of York studying English Literature. I achieved 5 A* at A-Level in English Literature, Spanish, Classical Civilisation, Philosophy and EPQ. I achieved nine grade 9's and two grade 8's at GCSE, two grade 9's including English Literature and English Language. I am passionate about all things English and I love analysing a text and applying critical theory to a text which, to me, makes it all the more interesting! I am a wiz at writing essays and love to teach others on how to write clearly in order to gain those top marks!

My lessons will start off with a starter quiz, whether that be about expanding your child's vocabulary, questions about the characters in a text or breaking down an exam question. We will then do an in-depth analysis of the poem, novel or play or a character analysis depending on the lesson. I will always end with an exam question in which your child will have a few minutes to plan and then we will go over together, breaking down the exam question and gathering evidence. Your child will then have the opportunity to write the full essay at home and email it to me to mark, if they so choose. I have been tutoring throughout my A-levels and my degree and last year three of my students attained a grade 9 either in GCSE English literature or Language whereas the rest all achieved a grade 7 or above. This structure of lessons has proved to be helpful as it covers all aspects of the course and allows your child to actively apply the information as if they were in the exam itself.
