About Christopher
Hi, I'm Chris, a 3rd year Mathematics student at Queen Mary university of London and part time tutor for the past 2 years. Maths can be a very tricky subject and quite a daunting one too. I understand very well how many people have a very complicated and difficult relationship with the subject. Hence, I aim to make it more accessible to anyone from any level to unlock their potential within the subject. From my experience, the issue a lot of students have with the subject is close minded teachers who don't take in to account the psychology of the individual, that make the subject feel more like a chore than the adventure that it is. As a consequence, I believe firmly in one-to-one tuition in order to properly cater the subject to the student. As a person that really cares about and enjoys teaching my students and the subject, I feel I am more than capable enough to communicate and teach efficiently. Being a friendly, down to earth person I feel that I can sympathise with students and really connect with them which helps them feel more comfortable with the subject. Ultimately confidence and comfort is the most important thing when tackling mathematics and my students have all reported an increase in both of these things after our Time together.

A typical lesson would usually take an hour. Although it seems obvious, the most important thing when it comes to teaching is making sure the student understands. From my experience, many teachers will only focus on teaching the methods that work best for themselves as opposed to the student. Hence I try to take a variety of approaches to a question, to suit the student, teaching different ways of thinking about a topic and changing perspective. My lessons are tailor made to suit the students needs abilities and pace of learning. I am happy to teach anyone of any age up to A level mathematics and up to GCSE physics. Ultimately, Maths is a beautiful subject that anyone can fall in love with as long as it is treated with patience, which I offer in abundance.

My son started having lessons with Chris in his last year of GCSE’s, and he has been able to get him from a low predicted 5 to predicted papers in the high 8 and Low 9’s. But more important, my son enjoys maths now, he likes his lessons and has developed a like for maths so he is wanting to do now maths for his A levels. So I can not recommend Chris enough. He is also very flexible to accommodate extra lessons if/when required and he cares about his students. 10 out of 10.

Chris has been absolutely brilliant with my son. Mathematics was becoming a real source of stress for him, but Chris completely turned that around. He has an incredible amount of patience and a unique talent for breaking down complex topics in a way that my son could easily grasp. Instead of using a one-size-fits-all approach, Chris tailored every lesson to my son's pace and learning style. His confidence has soared, and he actually looks forward to his lessons now. Chris taught me A-level maths. He was very good at explaining the content in a way I could easily understand and he was very patient with me. Would 100% recommend to anybody who requires a maths tutor.
