About Maria
Why Learn With Maria?
Stepping up to the piano or trying to make sense of sheet music can feel intimidating at first, but it is also one of the most rewarding journeys you can take. My goal is to make sure you never feel alone or overwhelmed in the process.
Having spent nine years in music school, I know what it is like to stare at a complicated score and wonder if it will ever click. That experience taught me patience and empathy. I understand where students usually hit roadblocks, and I am here to guide you through them with a warm, zero-pressure approach.

Learning music or reading sheet music can often feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. My approach is tailored to your personal pace. Having spent nine years navigating the rigorous world of music school, I know firsthand where students tend to get stuck—whether it is decoding intimidating notes on a page, mastering solfeggio, or trying to remember a piece without constantly staring at the sheet.
I like to focus on breaking complex concepts down into bite-sized, digestible pieces. Rather than relying on rote memorization or tedious repetition, I teach practical, intuitive methods of memorization that help your brain truly absorb and internalize the music.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Every lesson is structured to be engaging, low-stress, and goal-oriented, typically flowing through these steps:
Piano Warm-Up & Finger Agility: We start right at the keyboard with gentle stretches and foundational finger exercises to build dexterity, relax your wrists, and get comfortable at the keys.
Solfeggio & Ear Training: We connect what you hear to what you play by practicing solfeggio, helping you train your inner ear and understand the musical patterns beneath the keys.
Reading & Decoding: We tackle sheet music step-by-step, building your confidence in how to read notes smoothly and naturally, without the guesswork.
Hands-On Piano Practice & Memory Work: We apply these tools directly to your pieces, working through tricky sections together and using smart, stress-free memorization techniques so you can practice effectively on your own.
