About Stephen
Hi, I'm Dr Stephen Breen.
I’m a university academic and Computing specialist with over 20 years’ experience in higher education. I have a PhD and am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and I’ve taught and supported students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level for over 20 years.
I specialise in helping Level 6 and Level 7 students with their Computing projects and dissertations, particularly in areas such as Computer Science, Cyber Security, Ethical Hacking, Data Science, Software Development, Information Systems, Data Protection and related technology subjects.
My approach is practical, supportive and student-focused. I can help you develop your research question, structure your project, choose an appropriate methodology, develop and evaluate your technical work, strengthen your academic writing, and prepare your final dissertation or project.
I don't write or complete work for students. Instead, I provide experienced academic supervision and mentoring to help you develop your own ideas, improve your work and become more confident in completing your project.

I will guide you through the whole process, I will work with you to understand the requirements you have been set and guide you to achieve the best outcome you can get. I understand that time is critical and you will have many demands on your time. My sessions will be between 30 minutes to 1 hour long depending on what you choose. I offer a one-off session where I will look at the following:
Your project idea
Your research problem
Your research question
Your aims and objectives
The project scope
Your proposed methodology
The initial project structure
Give you supervisor-style feedback
I also offer a by session approach which will cover the following:
Before our session
You send:
Your current project document
Your supervisor feedback
The university project specification
Any specific questions/issues you have
During the session
I will work with you on your research question
Give advice/direction/feedback on your literature review
Work with you to develop a methodology
Look at your project design
Discuss with you about technical implementation
Discuss your analysis
Discuss your evaluation
Discuss your approach to the discussion section
Give feedback on your conclusions
Work on developing a good academic structure
Discuss referencing appropriate to your institution
Monitor your project planning
After the session
Give you:
feedback on agreed actions
priorities for the next stage
questions that need to be resolved
provide a suggested deadline

Details
I offer an initial single supervision session free with follow up single sessions at £75 per hour. I offer an eight session programme that will cover the whole of your project, happy to discuss that with you.
