About Joseph
To achieve your goals in Maths and Further Maths at GCSE, you need to be consistent and work hard. I have hundreds of hours of experience in motivating students to do this, which is why I have tutored so many students to top grades at GCSE. I am talented when it comes to understanding mathematical ideas, and effectively communicating them to students, whilst understanding their specific needs. To most effectively make progress with my students, I co-operate with them, and nurture their passion for the subject. As a student, I achieved A*'s at GCSE and A-level maths, and graduated from university with a first in biology. However, I highlight to my students that my academic success comes as a product of hard work - this is what I primarily encourage.

As a GCSE maths tutor for the Confucius Institute in Sheffield, I have amassed over 500 hours of tutoring experience. In this time, I have became an adaptable, understanding and empathetic teacher with high expectations of his students. I have worked with a diversity of students, and am talented at understanding what different students require ; this allows me to effectively communicate ideas. Lessons are typically one hour, however, it is important to me that I am flexible to the schedule of my students. I co-operate with my students so that lessons are suitably interactive, understandable, and enjoyable. Further, I ensure I maintain a comfortable and safe environment, assuring students that I am always available to provide help. My lessons are for any students who want to cover GCSE maths or further maths content. Lessons will focus on evidence-based, active learning. This means that lessons will focus on practising exam questions and how to succeed in exam situations. As a STEM graduate from the University of Sheffield, I recognise the importance of maths and hard work.
