About Alicia
My name is Alicia Mai, I am 21 years old, and I recently moved to Melbourne, Australia. Having grown up in international and multilingual environments, I understand the importance of language and communication, both in connecting with others and integrating into new cultures. I believe language learning is a beautiful and transformative experience. It allows you to transcend cultures, experience the world and people in new ways, and feel at home wherever you are. I am passionate about helping learners embrace the English language, whether you are an international student, a migrant, or simply a curious and dedicated learner. Growing up across Asia and Europe, I have firsthand experience navigating different languages and cultures, and I have extensive experience teaching foreign language students. I aim to create lessons that are genuine, supportive, and tailored to each student’s needs, helping you build confidence, improve your skills, and achieve your personal life or academic goals. For me, language is not just a tool, it is a gateway to understanding, connection, and new opportunities. I want to help guide you on your journey to mastering English, unlocking new possibilities for learning, university, work, and life in Australia.

I offer support in high level academic English, including essay writing, critical literary analysis, and exam preparation for students. I place a strong emphasis on clear structure, precise expression and language, and understanding assessment criteria, helping students improve not only their results but also their confidence in English. My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, whether they are preparing for IB or VCE assessments, university assignments, or IELTS entrance exams.
In addition to academic tutoring, I work closely with international students and migrants who wish to improve their practical spoken and written English for everyday life in Australia. This includes building confidence in conversation, improving pronunciation, developing grammar skills, and learning English for real-world situations such as work, study, and social interactions. Having lived and tutored in non-English-speaking countries, I understand the challenges of learning a second language and aim to create a supportive, structured, and encouraging learning environment that feels natural and genuine.
I offer both online and in-person lessons and adapt my teaching style to suit each learner’s level, pace, and objectives.
