About Hannah
I am a dedicated Special Education teacher with extensive experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, including autism, learning disabilities, attention challenges, and students who require academic interventions. Throughout my career, I have been committed to helping students build the skills, confidence, and independence needed to reach their full potential.
I believe every student can learn and grow when provided with the right support, encouragement, and instructional strategies. My approach combines patience, structure, and high expectations, allowing students to feel successful while continuing to challenge themselves. I take the time to understand each student's unique strengths, interests, and learning style so that lessons are engaging, meaningful, and tailored to their individual needs.
Families can expect professionalism, clear communication, and a collaborative approach. I regularly monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adjust instruction based on student performance and goals. Whether a student needs support with foundational reading skills, mathematics, executive functioning, social-emotional learning, or specialized instruction related to a disability, I strive to create a positive learning environment where they feel safe, supported, and motivated to succeed.
My greatest reward is seeing students gain confidence in their abilities and begin to view themselves as capable, successful learners. I am passionate about helping students overcome challenges, celebrate their progress, and develop skills that will benefit them both in school and beyond.

My approach as a tutor is centered on helping students develop the social-emotional skills they need to be successful both in and out of the classroom. I believe students learn best when they feel safe, understood, and connected. By building strong relationships and creating a supportive environment, I help students develop confidence, self-awareness, self-regulation, communication, and problem-solving skills that support lifelong success.
I use evidence-based social-emotional learning strategies combined with engaging, individualized activities. Lessons may focus on identifying and managing emotions, coping with frustration, building self-confidence, developing positive relationships, improving communication skills, and learning effective problem-solving strategies. I incorporate visual supports, social stories, role-playing, games, discussion, and interactive activities to help students practice and apply these skills in meaningful ways. I also provide positive reinforcement and individualized supports to meet each student's unique needs.
A typical lesson begins with a check-in to discuss feelings, recent experiences, and goals. Students then engage in activities designed to teach and practice specific social-emotional skills. Through guided discussion, modeling, role-playing, and real-life scenarios, students learn how to recognize emotions, manage challenges, communicate effectively, and navigate social situations. Throughout the lesson, I provide feedback, encouragement, and opportunities for reflection. Sessions conclude with a review of key skills and strategies that students can apply at home, school, and in their daily lives.
What sets me apart is my extensive background in Special Education and my experience supporting students with diverse social, emotional, and behavioral needs. I have worked with students with autism, learning disabilities, attention difficulties, anxiety, and behavioral challenges. I understand that every child develops social-emotional skills differently and am skilled at adapting instruction to meet individual needs. My focus is always on helping students build confidence, develop positive relationships, and gain the tools they need to navigate challenges successfully.
My lessons are designed for students who need additional support with social-emotional development. I work with students who are learning to identify and regulate emotions, improve social interactions, strengthen executive functioning skills, develop self-advocacy, build resilience, and increase confidence. Lessons are individualized and designed to help students develop the skills they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
