About Tangan,
I am a Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT) with an LET rating of 88.00%, a 120-hour TEFL certification, and a C2-level English proficiency — currently pursuing a Master of Arts in English Language Education. As a native Tagalog speaker raised in the heart of Central Luzon, I bring an authentic, lived understanding of the language — its rhythms, its nuances, its humor, and the culture that breathes through every word. My teaching experience spans preschool to senior high school, having directed a Literacy Remediation Program, delivered English instruction across multiple class sections, and designed individualized study plans as a private tutor. I bring a research-informed, learner-centered approach to every session — grounded in differentiated instruction, MELC-aligned lesson design, and a deep understanding of how language anxiety affects real learners. My approach to teaching Tagalog is rooted in communicative language teaching — the belief that language is best learned through meaningful interaction, not memorization. Every lesson is a conversation first, a grammar lesson second.
I use a blend of:
1. Contextual immersion — introducing vocabulary and phrases through real-life scenarios (ordering food, navigating directions, family conversations) so that words stick naturally.
2. Spaced repetition — revisiting key structures across multiple sessions to build lasting retention.
3. Error reframing — mistakes are never penalized; they're treated as data, discussed, and corrected gently so confidence grows alongside competence.
4. Multimodal learning — combining audio (listening to native speech patterns), visual (charts, flashcards, cultural visuals), and verbal output so different learning styles are all served.
