About Cheryl
Can you imagine learning grammar by deconstructing the lyrics of a classic bolero? Spanish sessions involve a blend of structured exercises and conversational fluency practice that feels more like a creative exchange.
I lean on my academic background to explain why certain phrases function the way they do in different regions. Grammar does not have to be a dry chore when we treat it as the structure of a melody.
13 years of teaching have taught me that students retain more when they feel the connection between language and culture. We will move at a pace that keeps you engaged without feeling rushed. It is a pleasure to help you find your own voice in a new language.

Spending 13 years living and gigging across the Tex-Mex and Latin pop circuits shaped my understanding of how language lives in the rhythm of daily life. I admit that transitioning from a BA Latin American Music Studies graduate in Mexico to a mentor in the US was quite a change.
My classroom approach focuses on the nuances of accent and intonation that textbooks often overlook. I share the cultural context behind every idiom and expression to ensure students grasp the soul of the language.
Developing verb conjugation skills becomes natural when you approach them through the lens of music and rhythm. It is rewarding to watch adult learners find their confidence while navigating everyday phrases for beginners. Preparing for exams like DELE or DELF requires a steady hand and a clear roadmap. My goal remains to help you reach that point where you can walk through a Spanish-speaking city with total ease.
