About Heidi
My journey in programming started with a deep interest in understanding how software systems are built from simple logical instructions. I completed my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science and later pursued a PhD in Software Engineering, which helped me develop strong knowledge in coding, algorithms, and system design. Over the past 13 years, I have worked with students from different backgrounds, helping them understand programming through clear explanations and structured teaching methods that focus on building long-term confidence.
I believe that programming should be taught in a way that feels approachable and supportive for every learner. My teaching style focuses on breaking down complex topics into smaller steps and using practical examples that make learning easier. I encourage students to ask questions, practise regularly, and learn from their mistakes without fear. This helps them build confidence, improve understanding, and develop independence in solving problems through logical thinking.
Outside of teaching, I stay actively involved in programming by working on projects, exploring new technologies, and continuously improving my knowledge. This allows me to keep my lessons practical and up to date. Teaching programming is very meaningful to me because I see students grow from beginners into confident problem solvers who can think clearly and create useful solutions.

Programming becomes much more understandable when students learn how to think step by step instead of trying to memorise code patterns. In my lessons, I focus on building strong foundations in concepts such as variables, loops, conditions, functions, and data structures. I carefully explain how each concept works and how different parts of a programme connect together to form a complete solution. By using simple language and structured explanations, I help students develop clarity and confidence in writing their own code from the beginning.
Each lesson is designed to match the student’s level and learning speed so that progress feels steady and comfortable. Beginners start with simple logic building and basic coding exercises that help them understand how programmes work. Intermediate learners focus on writing structured code, debugging errors, and improving problem-solving skills. Advanced students work on algorithms, optimisation, and project-based learning that reflects real-world applications. Every session includes practice tasks, guided corrections, and detailed explanations that support consistent improvement over time.
Programming also helps students develop important skills such as logical thinking, patience, and creativity. As they learn to break down complex problems into smaller parts, they become more confident in finding solutions independently. This growth supports both academic success and future career skills. My goal is to make programming simple, engaging, and meaningful, helping students feel confident and capable in their learning journey.
