About Matthew
I have been teaching Sociology, SPSS and research methods, at A-level, undergraduate and graduate levels for many years. I can tutor Sociology A level and SPSS for both Psychology and Sociology. I have a PhD in Sociology and specialise in social statistics and social research methods. I try to avoid technical discussion and offer practical explanations. I am happy to tutor people at all levels. I am especially keen on tutoring students who come from neurodiverse backgrounds or who feel anxiety in learning environments.

I have been teaching Sociology and SPSS at undergraduate and graduate levels for thirty years. I can tutor Sociology A level and SPSS for both Psychology and Sociology. I do my best to ensure students produce their best work. I do this by making sure you feel comfortable and not judged. I am happy to support you as much as you need in your learning and to push you where you feel it is needed.
As a sociologist with decades of experience I have knowledge of all aspects of the sociology curriculum. For A-level students I can help you develop exam techniques that match marking criteria and give you confidence for mocks and exams. For undergraduate students I can help you write well-structured, theoretically informed essays that university lecturers expect from their students. I can also help you complete your third year dissertations from designing a proposal through data analysis to drafting the final copy.
I have taught SPSS to both undergraduate and graduate students as well as using it in my research. I can help you with statistical concepts, how to set up your dataset and show you how to analyse your data. I have experience teaching statistics to both Sociology and Psychology students but can help you regardless of your academic discipline.
