About Rory
I hold a degree in Software Engineering and have spent over nine years immersed in both professional development and education. My fascination with coding began as an interest in how digital systems communicate, and it has grown into a passion for guiding others through that same discovery. My teaching style is supportive, interactive, and adaptable. I recognise that programming can appear overwhelming at first, so I simplify complex processes and ensure that every student builds a strong foundation before advancing. I encourage independent thinking and promote a problem-solving mindset that helps learners become confident, capable coders. I remain engaged in continuous learning by exploring new languages, development tools, and programming trends. I actively participate in coding communities and projects, keeping my approach modern and relevant. For me, teaching programming is not just a technical responsibility — it is a creative mission to empower a new generation of thinkers, builders, and innovators.

Computer programming is the art of turning ideas into functional systems, and my lessons teach students how to think like creators rather than consumers of technology. I focus on building a clear understanding of how code works, why each line matters, and how programmes come together to solve real-world problems. From the very beginning, students are exposed to the logical structure and creative opportunities that programming provides, building both technical skill and intellectual confidence. Learners start with basic syntax, variables, data types, loops, and conditional statements. As they progress, they move into object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and application development. Practical exercises, guided projects, and debugging practice are integrated into each stage to strengthen both understanding and independence. I encourage experimentation and exploration, allowing learners to grow in both skill and imagination. In the advanced phase, programming becomes a complete way of thinking. Students learn to analyse large problems, design efficient solutions, and construct fully functional systems from the ground up. This develops persistence, patience, and innovation, characteristics that extend far beyond the screen. Programming trains the brain to organise information, evaluate possibilities, and create purposeful solutions. Through this process, students develop the confidence and competence needed to enter advanced academic fields or professional careers in technology with clarity, purpose, and creative power.
