My approach is very much like a one-on-one writing workshop! It's not about my personal taste at the end of the day; it's about amplifying and conveying your voice in the most appealing yet concise manner.
We would have a Zoom to initially get our bearings, like figuring out where you want to apply to college and what you're thinking of for your essays. Then, we would create a master document with our own deadlines and all the prompts to ensure that the essays are done well before the applications are due. You would then share all of your in-progress essays with me and I would give feedback promptly-either the night you sent it to me or the next day.
Public forum debate would also be handled similarly, but if we need to work on speaking, obviously we would zoom more frequently to run drills, practice rounds, etc. I would assist with research, card-cutting, and case writing. I competed both on the national circuit and in local tournaments, so I know how to cater speeches to lay, flow, and flay judges. I even still judge sometimes!
Would do best with high school aged students!
