About Victoria
My name is Victoria Roman, and this next year I will be a senior in high school. I am in the top three percent of my class, and I am an AP ambassador, a program that encourages students to seek out classes like honors, pre-ap, and ap to help students reach their full potential and seek out challenges. Math has always been a subject I enjoyed because of those “Ah-ha!” moments. It was challenging and it taught me to look at problems differently. And as cheesy as it sounds, I know that math can be really fun, as long as you understand it that is. And it’s that level of understanding that I want to encourage in other students through tutoring. Math has a very bad reputation in schooling and a lot of that comes from the people who teach it. As a student myself, I hear about a lot of the challenges classmates face in math, and I can understand where a lot of the confusion comes from. With that being said, I’m ready to look at different perspectives and help students find the best kind of problem solving that suits them, and hopefully I can help paint mathematics in a new light for others.

I specialize in teaching academic, pre-ap, and honors algebra, precalculus, and more for grades 8-12. I mainly do video calls but I may be able to do in person for those in the Houston, Richmond, Katy or Rosenberg area.
And how will I do it? Here is my “lesson plan”
In order to provide students with most understanding, I like to start by going over the material the student was given and making sure that the student fully understands the instructions. If the notes provided aren’t sufficient I can go through instructions step by step, as well as provide other tricks and tips that can help students avoid getting tripped up. After the basic fundamentals are given, the key to understanding mathematics is practice, practice, practice! So I will provide the student practice problems; first going through with a guide, and then independently. Allowing the student to understand the information and put it to memory is the key to functioning in math, and I’m more than ready to help your student get there! :)
