About Kevin
I have been playing music since I was 5 years old (I'm now 35), starting with the piano, and then the guitar.
I remember teaching myself guitar from the book "Rock Guitar for Dummies" before YouTube tutorials became a thing, and how much of a struggle it was before getting proper lessons.
I started teaching others during college for free so that I could figure out what works and hone my craft, then I started teaching professionally in 2020.
I played in an RnB band in college, performed at a large street festival with a Neo-Soul band, and am playing in a regularly gigging Alt Rock / Punk / Pop band. We do 3hr gigs with about 38 songs a night.
My ultimate goal is to help you eventually be able to teach yourself songs, by providing you with the prerequisite knowledge and skills. I will always ask you what your learning needs are and figure out what works best together.
Lessons can be scheduled on a regular cadence or as needed / time permitting.

I mostly teach students ranging from complete beginners to late intermediate level.
I use a flexible but well-structured curriculum that I tailor to each student's personal goals and taste in music.
I place a lot of emphasis on developing strong rhythm technique and timing, which is what many self-taught players struggle with.
I use a few exercises to help fast-track certain techniques but mostly use songs as teaching examples.
I want to help you become a well-rounded musician, which means incorporating essential music theory (relevant to your genre) and ear-training.

I had been trying to teach myself for a while but was just so overwhelmed with all the things people online would say to learn first. Kevin answered a post I made on Reddit about this and we had a call to talk about his lesson structure to see if it was a good fit. Taking lessons with him gave me exactly the sense of direction I needed.
He helped me fix my strumming which was my weak point. He’s extremely patient with me and explains things in different ways and breaks things down to isolate the issue idk having. He also answers my questions throughout the week in between lessons and I always have a LOT of questions.
