About Nick
I am a maths student with over 3 years' teaching experience on individual and group levels. I achieved an A* in both GCSE and A Level Mathematics scoring over 90% in all 4 core modules. I obtained a first in my first year at university. This year, GCSE students I tutored achieved grades of 6-9 (B-A**) and all came from a wide range of abilities beforehand. Outside of my degree, I am a passionate musician and competitive singer and have more than 10 national and international titles to my name.

I am keen to tutor students just starting secondary school maths all the way up to those taking their final Levels. My aim as a tutor is to help students gain a more fluent and natural understanding of mathematics so they can quickly deconstruct problems and find efficient and beautiful ways of finding the solution.
My belief is that mathematical skills are learnt and developed through repetitive application of well-understood theory. In lessons, all topics will start with making sure the theory is explained clearly and simply so that students feel comfortable understanding the "point" of what is being taught and can see how the theory can be used to solve real problems. We will then move on to simple examples keeping a firm grip on the theory before moving on to more complex examples and exam-style questions if appropriate.
I always try to make lessons engaging and enjoyable whilst putting myself on the same level as the student(s) so as to not come across as condescending. No matter how easy I may think the problem is, I always put myself in the student's shoes. Repeatedly, students comment that I am approachable and friendly and that they see maths in a different, clearer way when I teach.
