About Jessica
My name is Jess, I am a second year medical student at Cambridge University looking to tutor A-level Biology, Chemistry or Maths. I received A*s in each subject in 2023 and enjoyed learning the building blocks of how our bodies work, how reactions occur all around us governing what we see and do everyday, and how maths can be used as a tool for calculation as well as bringing us incredible patterns and problems that can give deep satisfaction to understand. My passion for these subjects has taken me to medicine but also makes me a great teacher. It was not that long ago that I was in the same position as you, sitting these exams myself. The tactics I used and ways I broke something down to teach myself are all ways I can help you to understand them too. I have always had a passion for teaching and have been tutoring informally for years. I don't want to make studying daunting or boring and I will do my best to give you the tools and support to approach your subjects with confidence and the ability to ask as many questions as you need. I am a patient and kind person and will convey this in my tutoring. I am also able to be flexible and accommodating to different needs as I understand we all approach learning in our own way. Regardless of what personal grade you are aiming for I will do my best to get you there and make it as painless as possible.

Having sat A-level Biology, Maths and Chemistry myself not that long ago I recognise how to break down and learn the key topics for these exams from learning them myself. I have experience of tutoring and teaching from running revision sessions at lunch for other students at my sixth form college and have done informal tutoring with family friends for years. In a typical hour tutoring session with me we will go over topics I think are crucial for getting high marks as well as topics you have requested to go over. I will spend time going through a brief PowerPoint to break it down and using a whiteboard approach to talk you though steps with you asking questions. Then I will prepare some past paper questions for you to answer to test your knowledge and prepare you for the exam. At the end of the session I can answer some last questions you might have with the aim that you leave the session confident on approaching this topic and if not we will go over it again in the next one. I understand how daunting A-level content can be especially when you just aren't getting something so I will go over your worries in as much detail as needed in a patient, kind and supportive way so we can work together to crack this. Typical tutoring sessions will be in the evening Monday to Friday but I can adapt these times to accommodate.
