About Mya
I would like to study a master’s law degree in France next September, and as part of this goal, I am actively learning French. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, with Thomas Hardy being one of my favourite authors. Additionally, I have a strong interest in painting and yoga, both of which I have practised for many years. Having studied Philosophy at A-level, I developed a keen interest in the subject, and I continue to explore it in my free time. This not only enhances my academic pursuits but also provides valuable insights into understanding the foundations of various systems and structures in society. Additionally, I have found that listening to debates on a wide range of topics has significantly expanded my sphere of knowledge.

I offer one-hour tutoring sessions for students in Years 9, 10, and 11 studying History GCSE with the AQA syllabus. My teaching approach includes practising past paper questions, interactive games, and quizzes to promote active learning, along with fast-paced "question and response" activities. Having been tutored in mathematics myself, I understand which methods are most effective for different learning styles. Given that History GCSE involves a lot of facts and dates, I incorporate daily tasks such as using "Anki" to reinforce memory retention. Before each lesson, I always check with the student to find out what they’ve been struggling with during the week, allowing me to focus on those areas to help them improve.
