About Illia
I am a second year Engineering student at Trinity Hall, University of Cambridge, with a strong academic background in mathematics and physics and a genuine enthusiasm for problem solving and teaching. I believe that solutions should never feel confusing or inaccessible, as there is almost always a clear and elegant approach that simplifies even challenging problems. This philosophy underpins my teaching style, where I focus on clarity, structure and building confidence through understanding rather than rote methods. I have experience tutoring Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and ESAT preparation, and I aim to create a supportive, professional learning environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions and making progress.

My approach to tutoring is centred on personally tailored support that adapts to each student’s strengths, weaknesses and learning style. I focus on clear explanations, efficient problem-solving strategies and developing confidence with unfamiliar questions, particularly those typical of the ESAT and Oxbridge style assessments. Lesson length is flexible and usually ranges from one to two hours, depending on the student’s preference and level of concentration. This allows enough time to explore concepts in depth while maintaining focus and productivity. I have around one year of prior tutoring experience, during which I have taught Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and ESAT preparation. This has given me a strong understanding of common student difficulties and effective ways to address them across different levels and abilities. My lessons are primarily aimed at students preparing for the ESAT and Oxbridge interviews. I also offer support for Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A level, particularly for students looking to strengthen problem-solving skills and exam technique.
