About Filippos
I'm a second-year Engineering student at the University of York, tutoring GCSE Maths. I achieved an A at A-Level Maths and a First in my first year at university, so I have a strong, up-to-date grasp of the fundamentals your child needs to succeed.
Over the past 6 months, I've tutored students and helped take them from a grade 4 to a grade 7, using an exam-focused approach: working through real exam questions, identifying the topics students find most challenging, and going over these in detail until they feel confident. My goal isn't just to help you pass, but to help you understand the material so it sticks.
I'm friendly, patient, and reliable, and I look forward to helping you achieve the grade you're aiming for.

My approach centres on exam technique. I work through past paper questions with students, then use these to pinpoint specific topics that need reinforcing, breaking them down step by step until the concept clicks. Rather than just repeating what's been taught in school, I focus on how to apply that knowledge under exam conditions, since that's where most marks are won or lost.
Lessons typically run for one hour, giving enough time to cover a topic in depth without losing focus. However, longer or more frequent sessions can be arranged. I keep the pace flexible depending on the student, moving quickly through areas of strength and slowing down where needed.
